Tafseer of The Ascending Stairways · Al-Ma'aarij · 70:31

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ

But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -

    His statement: "And whoever seeks beyond that, those are the transgressors" (70:31) — so whoever seeks a marital partner for his private part other than his wife or what his right hand possesses (mulk al-yamīn) — that is, his slave-woman —, those who do that are the transgressors, who overstepped what Allah has permitted them toward what He has forbidden them; they are therefore the blameworthy ones.

    قوله: (فَمَنِ ابْتَغَى وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ ) فمن التمس لفرجه منكحا سوى زوجته، أو ملك يمينه، ففاعلو ذلك هم العادون، الذي عدوا ما أحل الله لهم إلى ما حرّم عليهم فهم الملومون.
