Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān and Muʾammal related to us, both saying: Sufyān related to us, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Ibrāhīm, concerning alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalātihim dāʾimūn (those who are constant in their prayer (ṣalāh)): he said: it is the prescribed prayer.
Zurayq ibn al-Sakhb related to me, saying: Muʿāwiya ibn ʿAmr related to us, saying: Zāʾida related to us, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Ibrāhīm, concerning alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalātihim dāʾimūn (those who are constant in their prayer): he said: the five prayers.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His word inna al-insāna khuliqa halūʿā (truly, man was created restless ...) up to His word dāʾimūn (constant): it has been transmitted to us that Dāniyāl (Daniel) described the community of Muḥammad ﷺ and said: they perform a prayer of which it holds: if the people of Nūḥ (Noah) had performed it, they would not have drowned; or [the people of] ʿĀd, then the barren wind would not have been sent against them; or [the people of] Thamūd, then the cry would not have seized them. So hold fast to the prayer, for it is a fine trait of character for the believers.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Manṣūr, on the authority of Ibrāhīm, concerning ʿalā ṣalātihim dāʾimūn (constant in their prayer): he said: the prescribed prayer.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His word alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalātihim dāʾimūn (those who are constant in their prayer): he said: these are the believers who are with the Prophet ﷺ; they perform their prayer constantly.
He said: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ḥaywa informed us, on the authority of Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb, on the authority of Abū al-Khayr, that he asked ʿUqba ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī about alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalātihim dāʾimūn (those who are constant in their prayer): he said: they are those who, when they pray, do not look behind them, nor to their right side, nor to their left side.
Al-ʿAbbās ibn al-Walīd related to me, saying: my father informed us, saying: al-Awzāʿī related to us, saying: Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr related to me, saying: Abū Salama ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to me, saying: ʿĀʾisha — the wife of the Prophet ﷺ — related to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Take of the works what you are able to bear, for Allah does not tire until you tire." She said: and the most beloved work to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was that which was kept up consistently. Abū Salama said: Allah says: alladhīna hum ʿalā ṣalātihim dāʾimūn (those who are constant in their prayer).
