The statement concerning the explanation of His saying: أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالاتِ رَبِّي وَأَنَا لَكُمْ نَاصِحٌ أَمِينٌ (7:68) (I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I am to you a trustworthy adviser.)
Abū Jaʿfar said: He means by his saying, "I convey to you the messages of my Lord," I transmit that to you, O people = "and I am to you an adviser," He says: and I am to you, in my command to you to worship Allah without the idols and gods besides Him, and in my call to you to believe me concerning that which I have brought to you from Allah, an adviser; so accept my counsel, for I am trustworthy (amīn) regarding the revelation of Allah and regarding that which Allah has entrusted to me of the message. I do not lie in it, and I add nothing to it nor alter anything of it, but I convey what I have been commanded, just as it has been commanded to me.
