The explanation of His word: قَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا مُنْقَلِبُونَ (125) ("They said: Verily, we are returning to our Lord") (125)

Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is proclaimed, says: the sorcerers said, in answer to Farʿawn (Pharaoh), when he threatened them with cutting off hands and feet on opposite sides and with crucifixion: "verily, we are returning to our Lord" — by this they mean, by the returning (al-inqilāb) to Allah, the going back to Him and the arriving at Him (al-maṣīr).
