So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing.

The explanation of His word: فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ (118) ("So the truth was confirmed and what they used to do was rendered void") (118)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is proclaimed, says: so the truth became visible and clear to whoever was present at it and beheld it in the matter of Mūsā—namely, that he was a messenger of Allah calling to the truth—"and what they used to do was rendered void," of the deception of sorcery, its falsehood, and its misleading illusory displays.

And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

14950 - Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word: "so the truth was confirmed (fa-waqaʿa al-ḥaqq)," he said: it became visible.
14951 - Al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz related to us, saying: Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Muhājir related to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word: "so the truth was confirmed and what they used to do was rendered void," he said: the truth became visible, and the deception they used to practice vanished.
14952 - Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word: "so the truth was confirmed," he said: the truth became visible.
14953 - Al-Muthannā related to us, saying: Abū Ḥudhayfa related to us, saying: Shibl related to us, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid: "so the truth was confirmed," Mūsā emerged as the victor.
