وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ

And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,

    The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: rather it is "a sending down from the Lord of the worlds" (tanzīlun min rabbi al-ʿālamīn), sent down upon him. "And had he fabricated against Us" — Muhammad ﷺ — "some sayings" — false sayings — and had he lied against Us, "then We would have seized him by the right hand." He says: then We would have seized him with Our might and Our power, and thereafter We would have severed from him the aorta of the heart. By this is meant only that He would strike him without delay with the punishment and would not defer it for him.

    يقول تعالى ذكره: ولكنه (تَنـزيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ) نـزل عليه، (وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا ) محمد، (بَعْضَ الأقَاوِيلِ ) الباطلة، وتكذب علينا، (لأخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِالْيَمِينِ ) يقول: لأخذنا منه بالقوة منا والقدرة، ثم لقطعنا منه نياط القلب، وإنما يعني بذلك أنه كان يعاجله بالعقوبة، ولا يؤخره بها.
