His saying: وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحَاقَّةُ ("And what made you know what the Inevitable (al-ḥāqqah) is?"). He, exalted is His mention, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: and what thing has made you know and made you aware of what the Inevitable is.
As Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, who said: everything in the Qurʾān where it states "wa-mā yudrīka" ("and what makes you know") — that He did not make known to him; and what occurs as "wa-mā adrāka" ("and what made you know") — that He did indeed make known to him.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His saying: وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحَاقَّةُ — as a magnification of the Day of Resurrection, as you hear.
