The statement concerning the explanation of the word of the Exalted: عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ ("Perhaps our Lord will give us in exchange something better than it; truly, to our Lord do we turn in longing") (32).

The Exalted, praised be His remembrance, says, reporting about what the owners of the garden said: ( عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا — "perhaps our Lord will give us in exchange something better than it") — on account of our repentance over the wrongness of our deed which we previously committed — something better than our garden ( إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ — "truly, to our Lord do we turn in longing"). He says: truly, we long that our Lord may give us, in place of our garden now that it has perished, something better than it.
