And His word: And truly, for you there is an undiminished reward. The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: and truly, for you, O Muḥammad, there is from Allah a tremendous reward for your patience amid the torment that the polytheists inflicted upon you — neither diminished nor cut off. This is derived from their expression: "a mannūn rope," when it is weak, and "his strength is weakened (mannatuhu)," when his strength is weakened.

And Mujāhid used to say concerning this what Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — all on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word: undiminished (ghayru mamnūn), he said: reckoned.
