The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ (29) ("They said: Glory be to our Lord, indeed we were wrongdoers") (68:29).

He — exalted be His mention — says: The owners of the garden said: سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ ("Glory be to our Lord, indeed we were wrongdoers") in that, in our oath, we omitted the reservation ("if Allah wills," al-istithnā-) and were resolved not to feed the poor from the fruits of our garden.
