Knower of the unseen and the witnessed means: Knower of what the eyes of His servants do not see and what is hidden from their gaze, and of what they do perceive and behold with their eyes. The Almighty (al-ʿAzīz), that is to say: the Severe in His retribution against whoever disobeys Him and opposes His command and prohibition. The All-Wise (al-Ḥakīm) in His ordering of His creation and His governance of them with respect to that which brings about their welfare.
