But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.

It was related to me on the authority of al-Ḥusayn, who said: I heard Abū Muʿādh say: ʿUbayd related to us, saying: I heard al-Ḍaḥḥāk say concerning His word: Laat uw bezittingen en uw kinderen u niet afleiden van de gedachtenis aan Allah up to the end of the sūra: This concerns the believing man whose death has come while he possesses much wealth which he has not purified with the zakāh (zakāh), with which he has not performed the ḥajj, and from which he has not paid out the right of Allah. He asks to return at the moment of his death, so that he might pay the zakāh on his wealth. Allah says: En Allah zal geen ziel uitstel verlenen wanneer haar termijn is gekomen.
Muḥammad ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: my father related to me, saying: my uncle related to me, saying: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His word: Laat uw bezittingen en uw kinderen u niet afleiden van de gedachtenis aan Allah ... up to His word: En geeft uit van datgene waarmee Wij u hebben voorzien, voordat de dood tot een van u komt. He said: This concerns the believing man, when death comes to him while he possesses wealth which he has not purified with the zakāh, with which he has not performed the ḥajj, and from which he has not paid out the right of Allah. He then asks to return at the moment of his death, so that he might give charity from his wealth and pay the zakāh. Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, concerning opdat ik liefdadigheid zou geven en tot de rechtschapenen zou behoren, he said: That is the zakāh and the ḥajj.
The Qurʾān reciters differed concerning the recitation of His word: en tot de rechtschapenen zou behoren (wa-akun mina al-ṣāliḥīn). The majority of the reciters in the cities, with the exception of Ibn Muḥayṣin and Abū ʿAmr, recited it as "wa-akun" with a jazm (apocopated ending), connecting it to the meaning of His word fa-aṣṣaddaqa, as though there were no fāʾ in it — for His word fa-aṣṣaddaqa, had there been no fāʾ in it, would have been in the jazm. Ibn Muḥayṣin and Abū ʿAmr recited it as "wa-akūna" with retention of the wāw and with a naṣb (accusative ending) on wa-akūna, connecting it to His word fa-aṣṣaddaqa; they thus gave wa-akūna a naṣb because fa-aṣṣaddaqa had a naṣb.
The correct judgment concerning this is that these are two well-known recitations, and with whichever of the two the reciter recites, he has attained what is correct.
And His word: En Allah zal geen ziel uitstel verlenen wanneer haar termijn is gekomen means: Allah will not defer the term of anyone by prolonging it for him when his term has arrived, but rather He takes him away. En Allah is volkomen op de hoogte van wat jullie doen means: Allah is the possessor of knowledge and knows of the deeds of His servants; He encompasses them all, nothing remains hidden from Him, and He will requite them for it — the doer of good according to his good deed, and the doer of evil according to his evil deed.
