The explanation of His word: وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ إِنَّهُ لا يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ (21) ("And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or denies His signs? Indeed, the unjust will not succeed") (6:21).
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: And who is more severe in transgression, and more astray in deed and more astray in word — "than one who invents a lie about Allah," that is to say: than one who invents about Allah a false claim and fabricates against Him a lie from himself, and claims that He has an associate from among His creation and a god worshipped alongside Him — as the polytheists among the worshippers of idols used to say — or claims for Him a child or a consort, as the Christians used to say — "or denies His signs," He says: or denies His proofs, signs, and indications which He gave to His messengers as evidence of the truth of their prophethood, which the Jews denied — "Indeed, the unjust will not succeed," He says: indeed, those who speak falsehood about Allah will not succeed and will not attain abiding in the gardens, namely those who invent the lie against Him and who deny the prophethood of His prophets.
