The exposition of His word: وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِمَّا عَمِلُوا وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ (6:132) (And for everyone there are ranks according to what they have done; and your Lord is not heedless of what they do.)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: And for every doer — whether in obedience to Allah or in disobedience to Him — there are abodes and ranks according to his deeds, which Allah causes him to attain and with which He recompenses him: if it was good, then with good, and if it was bad, then with bad. (And your Lord is not heedless of what they do), He, whose praise is exalted, says: and all of that of their deeds, O Muhammad (the Prophet ﷺ), takes place with the knowledge of your Lord; He reckons it up and records it for them with Himself, in order to requite them for it at their meeting with Him and their return to Him.
