The explanation of the words of the Exalted: (13) (Truly, you instill greater dread into their hearts than Allah; that is because they are a people who do not understand.) (13)
The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, says to the believers among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Truly you, O believers, instill into the hearts of the Jews of the Banū al-Naḍīr greater dread than Allah. He says: they fear them more intensely than they fear Allah.
(That is because they are a people who do not understand.) The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, says: this dread which you instill into the hearts of these Jews, which is stronger than their fear of Allah, arises from the fact that they are a people who do not comprehend the greatness of Allah. Therefore they take His acts of disobedience lightly, and they do not fear His punishment as much as they fear you.
