Tafseer of The Exile · Al-Hashr · 59:12
If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided.

The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: لَئِنْ أُخْرِجُوا لا يَخْرُجُونَ مَعَهُمْ وَلَئِنْ قُوتِلُوا لا يَنْصُرُونَهُمْ وَلَئِنْ نَصَرُوهُمْ لَيُوَلُّنَّ الأَدْبَارَ ثُمَّ لا يُنْصَرُونَ (12) ("If they are driven out, they will not go forth with them, and if they are fought against, they will not help them, and even if they were to help them, they would surely turn their backs, and then they would not be helped") (59:12).
The Exalted, whose praise is proclaimed, says: if the Banū al-Naḍīr are driven out of their dwellings and carried away from them, then the hypocrites, who had promised them to depart with them from their dwellings, will not go forth with them; and if Muḥammad ﷺ fights against them, then the hypocrites, who had promised them help, will not help them; and even if the hypocrites were to help the Banū al-Naḍīr, then they would surely turn their backs, put to flight before Muḥammad ﷺ and his companions, fleeing away from them, and forsaking them. ثُمَّ لا يُنْصَرُونَ ("and then they would not be helped"). He says: and then Allah will not help the Banū al-Naḍīr against Muḥammad ﷺ and his companions, but He forsakes them.
