Tafseer of The Iron · Al-Hadid · 57:17
Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. We have made clear to you the signs; perhaps you will understand.

The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: اعْلَمُوا ("Know"), O people, أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحْيِي الأَرْضَ ("that Allah brings the earth to life"), the barren earth that causes nothing to grow, بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ("after its death"), that is to say: after its decay and withering. He says: and just as We bring this barren earth to life after its withering, so do We guide the human being who has strayed from the truth toward the truth; We grant him good inspiration and steadfastness for the faith, until he becomes a believer after his unbelief, and guided after his straying.
And His word: قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ("We have already made the signs clear to you, that you may understand"). He says: We have already made clear to you the proofs and the arguments, that you may comprehend.
