Tafseer of The Beneficent · Ar-Rahmaan · 55:10
And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.

The explanation of His statement, the Exalted: وَالأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلأَنَامِ ("And the earth — He has laid it down for the creatures") (10)
The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says وَالأرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلأنَامِ: and the earth He has spread out for the creation, and these are the creatures (al-anām).
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have expressed themselves.

ʿAlī related to us, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His statement لِلأنَامِ — he says: for the creation.
Muḥammad ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: my father related to me, saying: my uncle related to me, saying: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His statement وَالأرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلأنَامِ — he said: everything in which there is a spirit (rūḥ).
Yaʿqūb related to me, saying: Ibn ʿUlayya related to us, saying: Abū Rajāʾ informed us, on the authority of al-Ḥasan, concerning His statement وَالأرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلأنَامِ — he said: for the creation, the jinn and mankind.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both of them — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement لِلأنَامِ — he said: for the creatures.
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda, لِلأنَامِ — he said: for the creation.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His statement وَضَعَهَا لِلأنَامِ — he said: al-anām: the creation.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Marwān related to us, saying: Abū al-ʿAwwām related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, وَالأرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلأنَامِ — he said: for the creation.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, the same.
