And His statement كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ شَكَرَ "Thus do We reward whoever is grateful" — He says: and just as We rewarded Lūṭ and his family and showed them favor, so that We delivered them from Our punishment on account of their obedience to Us, so do We reward every one of Our entire creation who is grateful to Us for Our favor upon him, so that he obeys Us and adheres to Our command and Our prohibition. And He inflected His statement بِسَحَرٍ "in the last part of the night" (in the tanwīn form), because it is indefinite; but when they say, "I did this saḥara" (in the definite form, with the temporal meaning of that specific night), without the bāʾ, then they do not inflect it.
