Thamud denied the warning

And His word كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ ("Thamūd denied the warnings"); He, exalted is His mention, says: Thamūd, the people of Ṣāliḥ, denied the warnings of Allah that had come to them from Him, and they said — in denial of Ṣāliḥ, the messenger of their Lord —: shall we follow a single human being from among ourselves, we who are the great multitude, while he is but one alone?
