And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

"How then were My punishment and My warnings?" (54:21): The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: Look then, O company of the disbelievers (kuffār) of Quraysh, how My punishment of the people of ʿĀd was, when they disbelieved in their Lord and denied His messenger; for that is the way (sunna) of Allah concerning those who resemble them. And how was My warning, directed to those whom I have warned.
