Tafseer of The Star · An-Najm · 53:29

فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life.

    And His words "So turn away from whoever turns away from Our remembrance" (53:29): The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: So leave aside, O Muḥammad, the one who has turned his back upon the remembrance of Allah and has not believed in Him by acknowledging Him as the One.

    And His words "and desires nothing but the worldly life" (53:29): He says: and who did not seek what is with Allah in the Hereafter, but sought only the splendor of the worldly life (al-ḥayāt al-dunyā) and pursued continuance therein.

    وقوله ( فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْ مَنْ تَوَلَّى عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا ) يقول جلّ ثناؤه لنبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم: فدع من أدبر يا محمد عن ذكر الله ولم يؤمن به فيوحده. وقوله ( وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلا الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا ) يقول: ولم يطلب ما عند الله في الدار الآخرة, ولكنه طلب زينة الحياة الدنيا, والتمس البقاء فيها.
