The explanation of the word of the Exalted: Voorwaar, zij die niet in het Hiernamaals geloven, geven de engelen waarlijk vrouwelijke namen (27).

The Exalted, Whose praise is exalted, says: indeed, those who do not hold the resurrection in the Last Abode to be true — and that is the Day of Resurrection — do truly give Allah's angels female names, and that is because they used to say: they are the daughters of Allah.

And in accordance with what we have said concerning His word female names the people of interpretation have spoken.

    * Mention of who said that:

Muhammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word female names, he said: the female beings.
