ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍۢ يَلْعَبُونَ

Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.

    His saying الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ ("Those who amuse themselves in idle talk"). He says: those who are in confusion and turmoil in this world and amuse themselves, heedless of that toward which they are heading, namely the punishment (ʿadhāb) of Allah in the Hereafter.

    وقوله: ( الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ ) يقول: الذين هم في فتنة واختلاط في الدنيا يلعبون, غافلين عما هم صائرون إليه من عذاب الله في الآخرة.
