The explanation of His statement, the Exalted: Has the account of the honoured guests of Ibrāhīm reached you? (24)
The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, informing him that He will bring down upon whoever persists in his error and obstinately clings to his unbelief (kufr), and does not repent from it among the unbelievers of his people, that which He brought down upon the bygone communities before them. And He reminds his people of the Quraysh of this by relating to them the reports and accounts about them and what He did with them: Has the account of the honoured guests of Ibrāhīm, the bosom friend of the All-Merciful, reached you, O Muḥammad?
By His statement the honoured He means that Ibrāhīm, peace be upon him, and Sāra served them with their own hands.
And it has been said: they were only called the honoured as Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, he said: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, he said: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, he said: al-Ḥasan related to us, he said: Warqāʾ related to us — both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement the honoured guests of Ibrāhīm, he said: Ibrāhīm honoured them, and he then ordered his household to prepare the calf for them.
