Explanation of the words of the Exalted: وَفِي الأَرْضِ آيَاتٌ لِلْمُوقِنِينَ ("And on the earth are signs for those who believe with certainty") (51:20).
The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and on the earth are lessons and admonitions for the people who believe with certainty in the reality of what they behold and see with their own eyes when they travel across it.
And in the spirit of what we have said about this, the scholars of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) spoke.
* Mention of who said that:
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His words وَفِي الأرْضِ آيَاتٌ لِلْمُوقِنِينَ ("And on the earth are signs for those who believe with certainty"), he said: He says: a lesson for whoever takes a lesson from it.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His words وَفِي الأرْضِ آيَاتٌ لِلْمُوقِنِينَ ("And on the earth are signs for those who believe with certainty"): when someone travels across the earth of Allah, he sees lessons and tremendous signs.
