And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat.

And His words وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ ("And the trumpet is blown — that is the Day of the threatened warning") — we have already given our explanation earlier concerning the meaning of al-ṣūr (the trumpet), and how the blowing into it takes place, with mention of the disagreement of those who differed about that, and of what in our view is the most correct of the statements concerning it — in a manner that absolves us from repeating it in this place.
And His words ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ ("that is the Day of the threatened warning") — He says: this day on which the blowing takes place, that is the Day of the threatened warning which Allah has threatened the unbelievers (al-kuffār) with, namely that He will punish them on it.
