And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware. And if you turn away - then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification.

The explanation of the words: وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَاحْذَرُوا فَإِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِنَا الْبَلاغُ الْمُبِينُ (92) ("And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and be on your guard. But if you turn away, then know that only the clear conveyance rests upon Our Messenger") (5:92).
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالأَنْصَابُ وَالأَزْلامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ ("Indeed, wine, gambling, the sacrificial altars, and the divining arrows are an abomination, from the work of Satan, so avoid it") "and obey Allah and obey the Messenger," in your avoidance of these and your compliance with His command in that which He has charged you regarding abstaining from what He has forbidden you — from these matters which He has clarified to you in this verse and elsewhere — and oppose Satan in his command to you to disobey Allah in that and in other matters, for he strives only to sow enmity and hatred among you by means of wine and gambling.
"And be on your guard," that is: fear Allah and take care that He does not see you engaged in what He has forbidden you of these matters which He has forbidden you in this verse and elsewhere, or that He finds you absent from that which He has commanded you, so that you bring yourselves to ruin and destroy yourselves. "But if you turn away," that is: if you do not act according to what We have commanded you, and you do not abstain from what We have forbidden you, and you turn your backs upon that which you are upon of belief in and affirmation of Allah and His Messenger and compliance with that which your Prophet came to you with, "then know that only the clear conveyance rests upon Our Messenger," that is: then know that upon the one whom We have sent to you with the warning rests nothing other than conveying to you the message with which he was sent, clarified for you with a clarification that sets forth for you the way of truth and the path which you are commanded to tread. As for the punishment for turning away and the recompense for disobedience: that rests upon the one to whom the messengers are sent, not upon the messengers.
And this is from Allah, the Exalted, a threat to whoever turns away from His command and His prohibition. The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says to them: If you turn away from My command and My prohibition, then expect My punishment and be wary of My displeasure.
