And eat of what Allah has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And fear Allah, in whom you are believers.

The explanation of the saying: وَكُلُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ حَلالا طَيِّبًا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَنْتُمْ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ (88) (And eat of what Allah has provided for you, lawful and good, and fear Allah, in Whom you are believers. (5:88))
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says to these believers, whom He forbade to forbid the good things that Allah had made lawful for them: Eat, O believers, of the provision of Allah with which He has provided you and which He has made lawful for you, as something that is lawful (ḥalāl) and good (ṭayyib), as in:
12355 - Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: Al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of ʿIkrima: "And eat of what Allah has provided for you, lawful and good," that is: of the food that Allah has made lawful for them.

And as for His saying: "and fear Allah, in Whom you are believers," He says: and beware, O believers, of transgressing His limits (ḥudūd), so that you deem lawful what is forbidden to you and forbid what is made lawful to you; and guard yourselves in that against opposing Him, lest His wrath descend upon you, or you thereby deserve His punishment. "In Whom you are believers," He says: in Whose oneness you profess, and Whose lordship you hold to be true.
