Indeed, We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner

The statement concerning the exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا (48:8)
Allah, exalted is His mention, says to His Prophet Muḥammad — may peace and blessings be upon him: Verily, We have sent you , O Muḥammad, as a witness over your community concerning the response they gave you to that which you called them, namely the message with which I sent you to them; and as a bringer of good news to them of the Garden (janna) if they obey you in that to which you called them, namely the upright religion; and as a warner to them against the punishment of Allah if they turn away from that with which you came to them from your Lord.
