The discourse on the explanation of His statement, the Exalted: وَمَن لَّمْ يُؤْمِن بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَإِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَعِيرًا (48:13)
Allah, exalted is His mention, says to these hypocrites among the Bedouins: and whoever does not believe, O Bedouins, in Allah and His Messenger, whether among you or among others, so that he does not hold him to be truthful in what he has reported, and does not submit to the truth with which he has come from his Lord — verily, We have prepared for them all a blazing fire (saʿīr) from the Fire, which blazes up against them in Hell (jahannam) when they enter it on the Day of Resurrection. One says of this: "saʿartu al-nāra" when you kindle the fire, thus "anā asʿaru-hā saʿran" (I kindle it, a kindling); and one also says "saʿartu-hā" when you stir up the [fire]. The poker (misʿar) is called "misʿar" only because with it one stirs up the fire. From this also comes their expression: "He is indeed a kindler of war (misʿar ḥarb)," by which is meant the one who stirs it up and incites it.
