And His statement يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ (O you who believe, if you help Allah, He will help you). The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: O you who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, if you help Allah, He will help you — through your aid to His Messenger Muḥammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, against His enemies among the people who disbelieve in Him, and through your fighting (jihād) against them together with him so that His word may be the highest — He will help you against them and grant you victory over them, for He is the helper of His religion and of those under His protection.
As Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ (if you help Allah, He will help you): for it is a right binding upon Allah that He gives to whoever asks Him, and helps whoever helps Him.
And His statement وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ (and make your feet firm). He says: and He will strengthen you against them and instill courage in you, so that you do not turn away from them, even if their number is great and your number is small.
