Indeed, Allah will admit those who have believed and done righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow, but those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as grazing livestock eat, and the Fire will be a residence for them.

The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: (47:12) (Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds into gardens beneath which the rivers flow; and those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as the cattle eat, and the Fire is an abode for them.)

And His saying ( إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأنْهَارُ ): the Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: indeed, Allah, to whom belongs the Godhood that befits none other than Him, will admit those who believe in Allah and in His Messenger into gardens beneath whose trees the rivers flow. He does that for them as an honoring for their faith in Him and in His Messenger.

And His saying ( وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ الأنْعَامُ ): the Majestic, whose praise is exalted, says: and those who denied the oneness of Allah and rejected His Messenger ﷺ enjoy in this world its perishable trash, its adornment and its excessive embellishment, and they eat therein without reflecting upon the return and without taking a lesson from the proofs that Allah has set down for His creatures, proofs that lead them to the knowledge of the oneness of Allah and to the insight into the truthfulness of His messengers. Their likeness, in their eating of that which they eat therein without knowledge thereof and without insight, is like the cattle among the beasts that have been made subservient, which know no other aspiration than grazing and nothing else. ( وَالنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَهُمْ ) — the Majestic, whose praise is exalted, says: and the Fire, the Fire of Hell (jahannam), is for them a dwelling place and a refuge; to it they return after their death.
