And His statement وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِمَّا عَمِلُوا (And for each there are ranks according to what they have done). The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and for each of these two groups — the group of faith in Allah and the Last Day and goodness toward the parents, and the group of disbelief in Allah and the Last Day and disobedience toward the parents, whose characteristics our Lord, mighty and exalted is He, has described in these verses — there are abodes and ranks with Allah on the Day of Resurrection, according to what they have done, that is to say: according to the work they did in this world of good, fine, and evil deeds, for which Allah will requite them.

Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His statement (And for each there are ranks according to what they have done): the ranks of the inhabitants of the Fire go downward, and the ranks of the inhabitants of the Garden go upward. (And that He may fully recompense them their deeds). The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: and that He may give them all the recompense for the deeds they did in this world — the doer of good among them for his good deed with what Allah has promised of honor, and the doer of evil among them for his evil with what He has prepared of requital. (And they will not be wronged). He says: and none of them will be wronged: the doer of evil among them is requited only with a punishment for his sin, not for what he did not do, and the sin of another is not charged against him, and the doer of good among them is not deprived of the reward for his good deed.
