Wearing [garments of] fine silk and brocade, facing each other.

His word ( يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ ) — "They wear garments of sundus." He says: these God-fearing ones wear, in these gardens, garments of sundus, which is the thin, fine brocade (dībāj), and of istabraq, which is the thick, coarse brocade.
As Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, on the authority of ʿIkrima, concerning His word ( مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ ): he said: istabraq is the coarse brocade.
It is said: ( يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ ) — "They wear of sundus and istabraq" — and He did not explicitly use the word "garment" (libās), because the wording of the sentence by itself already provides sufficient indication of the intended meaning.
His word ( مُتَقَابِلِينَ ) — "seated facing one another" — means that they, in the Garden (janna), have their faces turned toward one another, and that the one does not look at the back of the other's neck.
We have already mentioned the report concerning that earlier, which makes repeating it here superfluous.
