And His statement ( إِنَّ هَذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ ) ("Truly, this is that about which you used to be in doubt") — He — exalted is His mention — says: it is said to him: truly, this punishment (ʿadhāb) with which you are punished today is the punishment about which you doubted in the worldly life, over which you disputed, and which you did not accept with certainty. Now you have encountered it, so taste it.
