The explanation of His statement, exalted is He: وَأَنْ لا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ (And do not exalt yourselves above Allah; verily, I come to you with a clear authority) (19)
He, exalted is His remembrance, says: and there came to them a noble messenger, with the message: deliver to me the servants of Allah, and do not exalt yourselves above Allah.
And by His statement وَأَنْ لا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ (and do not exalt yourselves above Allah) He means: do not be insolent and excessive toward your Lord, so that you become disbelievers in Him and disobey Him, and thereby oppose His command. إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ (verily, I come to you with a clear authority). He says: verily, I come to you with a proof of the truth of that to which I call you, and with a demonstration of its correctness, clear to whoever considers it and reflects upon it, that it is a proof for me of the correctness of what I say to you.
And in like manner to what we have said concerning this, the exegetes have spoken.
