His statement ( namely: Deliver to me the servants of Allah ). He, exalted is His mention, says: and to the people of Pharaoh there came a messenger from Allah, honored with Him, with the message: deliver to me, and the meaning of "addū" is: deliver to me, so send with me and follow me. This is comparable to His statement Send the Children of Israel with us . The word "an" in His statement ( an addū ilayya / namely: deliver to me ) is in the accusative (naṣb), and "ʿibāda Allāh" (the servants of Allah) is in the accusative governed by His statement (addū / deliver). Some, however, have interpreted it thus: namely: deliver to me, O servants of Allah — and according to this interpretation "ʿibāda Allāh" is in the accusative as a vocative form (nidāʾ).
And in accordance with what we have said in the interpretation of ( an addū ilayya / namely: deliver to me ), the interpreters have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Muḥammad ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: my father related to me, saying: my uncle related to me, saying: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His statement ( And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, namely: deliver to me the servants of Allah, indeed I am to you a trustworthy messenger ), he said: he says: follow me to that which I call you to of the truth.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement ( namely: deliver to me the servants of Allah ), he said: send the Children of Israel with me.
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda ( namely: deliver to me the servants of Allah ), he said: the Children of Israel.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda ( namely: deliver to me the servants of Allah ), by this he means the Children of Israel. He said to Pharaoh: why do you hold back these people, a free people whom you have made into slaves (ʿabīd); let them go.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His statement ( namely: deliver to me the servants of Allah ), he said: he says: send the servants of Allah with me, namely the Children of Israel, and he recited So send the Children of Israel with us and do not punish them . He said: that is His statement ( namely: deliver to me the servants of Allah ), he said: return them to us.
His statement ( indeed I am to you a trustworthy messenger ). He says: indeed, O people, I am to you a messenger from Allah, who has sent me to you — His retribution will not reach you for your disbelief in Him; (trustworthy / amīn) he says: trustworthy concerning His revelation and the message that He has entrusted to me for you.
