Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.

His statement: سُبْحَانَ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضِ (Glorified is the Lord of the heavens and the earth). He, exalted is His remembrance, says this as an acquittal and an exaltation above every blemish of the Possessor of the heavens and the earth and the Possessor of the Throne which encompasses all of that, and above all the creation that is within it — above the lie with which these polytheists (mushrikīn) describe Him, and above the ascribing to Him of a child and other things that ought not to be ascribed to Him.
And in like manner to what we have said about this, the exegetes have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement: رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ (the Lord of the Throne, exalted above what they describe): that is, what they lie about.
