And His statement: لَقَدْ جِئْنَاكُمْ بِالْحَقِّ ("Indeed, We have come to you with the truth"). He says: Indeed, We have sent to you, O assembly of Quraysh, Our Messenger Muḥammad with the truth.
As Muḥammad related to me, saying: Aḥmad related to us, saying: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī: لَقَدْ جِئْنَاكُمْ بِالْحَقِّ ("Indeed, We have come to you with the truth"), he said: That with which Muḥammad — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — came. وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ ("but most of you detest the truth"). He, exalted is His mention, says: But most of them detest that which Muḥammad — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — has brought of the truth.
