( And when he came to them with Our signs, behold, they laughed at them ) (43:47). He says: and when Mūsā came to Farʿawn and his chiefs with Our proofs and Our indications of the truthfulness of his word — concerning that to which he was calling them, namely the oneness of Allah (tawḥīd) and the disavowal of the worship of the idols — then Farʿawn and his people laughed at that with which Mūsā had come to them, the signs and the lessons; just as your people too mock that with which you have come to them of signs and lessons. This is a consolation from Allah, Mighty and Exalted is He, to His Prophet ﷺ for what he endured from the polytheists (mushrikīn) of his people, and a notification from Him to him that his people among the folk who ascribe partners (shirk) will not escape being just like all the remaining communities that followed their path in disbelief (kufr) toward Allah and in the denial of His messengers; and an exhortation from Him to His Prophet ﷺ to follow, in patience with them, the way (sunna) of the messengers who possessed resolve (ūlū al-ʿazm); and an announcement from Him to him that the outcome of their rebellious ones ends in destruction and ruin, in accordance with His established custom with those who rebelled against Him before them; and that He will grant him victory over them and raise up his cause, just as He did with Mūsā, peace be upon him, and his people who believed in him, by granting them victory over Farʿawn and his chiefs.
