The explanation of the words of the Exalted: وَمَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ يَنْصُرُونَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ سَبِيلٍ (And they had no protectors to help them against Allah. And whomever Allah leads astray, for him there is no way) (42:46).
The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: and these unbelievers had, when Allah punishes them on the Day of Resurrection, no protectors who could defend them against the punishment of Allah, nor who could help them against their Lord with respect to the punishment that befell them, apart from Allah.
(وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ سَبِيلٍ) — He says: and whomever He causes to stray from the path of the truth, for him there is no way to reach it, for guidance (al-hidāya) and leading astray (al-iḍlāl) lie in His hand, and in the hand of none besides Him.
