And His statement: وَإِمَّا يَنزغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نزغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ("And if an incitement from Satan should provoke you, then seek refuge in Allah") ... the verse. He, exalted is His mention, says: and if Satan, O Muhammad, casts into your soul an incitement arising from the thoughts of the soul, intending to bring you to repay the evildoer with evil and to provoke you to harm him, then seek refuge in Allah and seek protection with Him against his footsteps. Indeed, Allah is the All-Hearing of your seeking refuge with Him against him and your seeking protection with Him against his incitements, and of all the rest of your speech and the speech of others; the All-Knowing of what he has cast into your soul of his incitements, and of what your soul has prompted you, and of that which can remove that from you, and of the rest of your affairs and the affairs of His creatures.

As Muhammad related to us, he said: Aḥmad related to us, he said: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī: وَإِمَّا يَنزغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نزغٌ , he said: an incitement and the prompting of the soul فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ("then seek refuge in Allah against the accursed Satan").

Yūnus related to me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said: وَإِمَّا يَنزغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نزغٌ — this is anger.
