And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when the enemies of Allah will be gathered to the Fire while they are [driven] assembled in rows,

Explanation of the saying of the Exalted: وَيَوْمَ يُحْشَرُ أَعْدَاءُ اللَّهِ إِلَى النَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ (And on the day when the enemies of Allah are gathered to the Fire, and they are held in check) (41:19).
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: and on the day when these polytheists (mushrikīn), the enemies of Allah, are brought together to the Fire, to the Fire of Hell (jahannam), the first of them are held back until the last of them have joined.
As Muḥammad related to us, saying: Aḥmad related to us, saying: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī: فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ (and they are held in check), he said: the first of them are held back until the last of them have joined.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ , he said: over them are guards who bring the first of them back upon the last of them.
