And His statement: like the lot (daʾb) of the people of Noah says: He does that to you and destroys you, just as His custom was with the people of Noah, ʿĀd, and Thamūd, and what He did with them. And we have already previously expounded the meaning of "daʾb," along with the evidential proofs for it, which exempt us from repeating it, together with mention of the statements of the people of interpretation concerning it.
And ʿAlī related to me, he said: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, he said: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: like the lot (daʾb) of the people of Noah, he says: like the condition.
Yūnus related to me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said concerning His statement: like the lot (daʾb) of the people of Noah, he said: like that which befell them.
And His statement: and those who were after them means the people of Abraham and the people of Lot, and they too belong to the confederates (al-aḥzāb).
As Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: and those who were after them, he said: they are the confederates (al-aḥzāb).
And His statement: And Allah wills no injustice for the servants says the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, while He informs about what the believing man from the people of Pharaoh said to Pharaoh and his chiefs: and Allah did not destroy these confederates from these communities as an injustice from Him toward them, without any crime that they committed between them and Him, for He wills not injustice toward His servants and does not desire it, but He destroyed them on account of their crimes and their disbelief in Him and their opposition to His command.
