His statement: فَادْعُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ (So call upon Allah, devoting the religion sincerely to Him) — the Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ and to those who believe in him: So worship Allah, O believers, and devote obedience sincerely to Him, ascribing nothing alongside Him as a partner to Him. وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ (even though the disbelievers detest it) — He says: even though the disbelievers, the polytheists (mushrikīn) who in their worship ascribe idols and equals to Him, detest your worship of Him in which you devote obedience sincerely to Him.
