He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."

( قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ) (He said: My Lord, grant me respite until the Day when they are resurrected): The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: Iblīs said to his Lord: My Lord, now that You have cursed me and driven me out of Your garden (janna) ( فَأَنْظِرْنِي ) (grant me respite), He says: defer me for the term and do not destroy me ( إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ) (until the Day when they are resurrected), He says: until the Day when You raise up Your creatures from their graves.
