The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: Zeg: Het is een geweldig bericht (67)
He, exalted is His mention, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: ( Say ) — O Muḥammad — to your people who deny you regarding that with which you have come to them from Allah, namely this Qurʾān, those who say about you: "This is nothing but fabrication": ( It is a tremendous tiding ). He says: this Qurʾān is a tremendous tiding.
And similar to what we have said about this, the people of the explanation have said.
* Mention of who said that:
ʿAbd al-Aʿlā ibn Wāṣil al-Asadī related to me, he said: Abū Usāma related to us, on the authority of Shibl ibn ʿAbbād, on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His saying ( Say: It is a tremendous tiding from which you turn away ). He said: the Qurʾān.
Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm related to me, he said: Hushaym related to us, he said: Hishām informed us, on the authority of Ibn Sīrīn, on the authority of Shurayḥ, that a man said to him: "Do you pass judgment over me on the basis of a tiding (nabaʾ)?" He said: whereupon Shurayḥ said to him: "Is the Qurʾān then not a tiding (nabaʾ)?" He said: and he recited this verse: ( Say: It is a tremendous tiding ). He said: and he passed judgment over him.
Muḥammad related to us, he said: Aḥmad related to us, he said: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī, concerning His saying ( Say: It is a tremendous tiding from which you turn away ). He said: the Qurʾān.
