Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the resting place.

Then the Exalted, whose praise is worthy of remembrance, clarified what that is to which they return and to which they will be brought in the Hereafter, and He said: Jahannama yaṣlawnahā ("Hell (jahannam), in which they will burn"). Thus He gave an explanation of Hell (jahannam) with His statement la-sharru maʾāb ("truly the worst destination"). The meaning of the statement is: truly, for the unbelievers (kuffār) there is the worst destination to which they will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, for their destination is Hell (jahannam), and there is their return after their death. Fa-biʾsa al-mihād ("and how evil is the resting place") — the Exalted, whose praise is worthy of remembrance, says: and how evil is the bed that they have spread out for themselves, namely Hell (jahannam).
