The explanation of His statement, the Exalted: قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ ("They said: 'Build for him a structure and cast him into the blazing fire'") (97)
He, the Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: the people of Ibrāhīm said, when Ibrāhīm had said to them: أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ * وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ("Do you worship what you carve? While Allah created you and what you make"): build for Ibrāhīm a structure. It has been mentioned that they built for him a structure resembling an oven, then they brought firewood to it and set it ablaze. فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ ("and cast him into the blazing fire"). And al-jaḥīm, among the Arabs, is: glowing coals of fire heaped one upon another, and fire upon fire.
